Tibetan Tsalung Trulkhor healing therapy Training course

We are delighted to announce the start of a very rare teaching cycle, given by Dr. Pasang Arya.

Tsalung Trülkhor therapy (rtsa rlung gi bcos thabs) is a method for healing body-mind disorders that is not based on material medicines. It is derived from Tibetan Buddhist tantric practice; a precious yogic practice which is also called geksel trülkhor (bgegs bsal ’khrul ’khor): “magical obstacle-clearing techniques.” In particular, these techniques are used to remove wind energy or “lung” (rlung) blockages, which may arise during intensive spiritual practice and cause mental and physical imbalance when left untreated. Throughout the centuries, this therapeutic knowledge has been one of the well-kept secrets of yogis and meditators, with very limited information about it available to the rest of the world.

Based on decades of study and experience, Prof. Pasang Yonten has skillfully adapted a number of these centuries-old tsalung practices for use in contemporary therapeutic environments. This “practical tsalung healing therapy” uses one’s meditative concentration and compassion to generate positive lung. Through diligent practice, students can improve their ability to create and transfer this energy through the body channels (rtsa), in order to restore energy imbalances and help it flow better in oneself and in others.

Prof. Pasang Yonten has taught this unique practice since 1996 in a restricted fashion to small groups of students, but has now accepted to share these teachings to a larger community of interested people.

The full teaching cycle comprises three levels. Training is given in Switzerland in three one-week residential workshops, which take place once a year.
An online study group will be made available to students after finishing the first-year workshop (Level I), in which they can review the teachings they received and share their experiences with other course participants. After each workshop (Level II, Level III), new revision materials can be accessed. In addition to the    workshops and the study group, an optional more intensive tsalung training and practice platform is in preparation. Qualifications and commitments of tsalung practitioners
Tsalung w 3 w

Tsalung” (rtsa: channels, rlung: wind) refers to a large domain of Tibetan Buddhist Tantric teachings and generally secret yogic practices. Their aim is usually to enhance and support the spiritual development of tantric practitioners, and require long preliminaries, strong spiritual commitments, initiations, strict retreats, etc. These spiritual practices are not the topic of this course, and those interested in this subject should rather approach Dharma centers. The practical tsalung healing therapy given by Dr. Pasang Yonten is for health and healing purposes, and thus mainly addresses therapists and others wishing to heal others and themselves. Based on key texts and his lifelong experience, he has laid down a systematic course that introduces tsalung techniques of training, diagnosis and treatment. The focus is on identifying and healing different types of wind disorders.

In order to participate in the course and learn this medical tsalung practice, high spiritual commitments or years of Buddhist practice are not required. By learning and practicing, the participant follows a medical lineage, which means there is no specific required affiliation to a certain Buddhist school or lineage. However, to effectively integrate these teachings, a regular practice of a short Medicine Buddha sadhana, Tibetan yoga and meditation, as well as commitments of respect towards the practices and texts involved are required. Above all, one should cultivate bodhicitta, a good heart. Tsalung healing therapy is based on Tibetan tantra, so it is highly recommended that students are Buddhist practitioners.
